Product Overview

Melón Malo by BORNTOSTANDOUT is an Extrait Extrême created by perfumer Jordi Fernández, inspired by two memories of melon separated by decades and continents.

Growing up in Spain, Fernández associated melon with childhood summers: thick, juicy wedges eaten during long, hot afternoons with nowhere to be. Years later, while travelling through Southeast Asia as a young perfumer, he encountered that familiar sweetness again in night markets filled with fruit, flowers, smoke and lingering tropical heat. This time, melon felt heavier, stickier and decidedly more decadent.

Melón Malo brings those two versions together, transforming the innocence of summer melon into something darker and more provocative through spice, rose, leather and oud.

What Does Melón Malo Smell Like?

Melón Malo opens with green honey melon, juicy, watery and luminous, immediately disrupted by the bright heat of candied ginger. Mandarin adds citrus freshness while cinnamon bark introduces a warmer, spiced undertone.

The heart becomes richer and more textured as Bulgarian rose and rose petals mingle with red berries. Patchouli pulls the composition away from sheer fruitiness, adding an earthy depth beneath the floral and fruity notes.

The dry down turns distinctly darker. Oud and Georgywood provide a powerful woody foundation, joined by resinous cistus, leather and musk. The result preserves the juicy brightness of melon while surrounding it with dark woods, leather and oud, creating an unusual tension between refreshing fruit and sensual depth.

When to Wear Melón Malo

Melón Malo works particularly well from late summer into autumn, when its juicy melon can provide freshness while the oud, leather, patchouli and woods bring enough depth for cooler evenings.

Its contrast between luminous fruit and a much darker base makes it especially suited to evenings and nights out, or whenever you want a fruit fragrance that moves well beyond conventional fruity sweetness.
