Tales of Amber by Goldfield & Banks is an ambery woody Extrait de Parfum that explores ambergris through the contrasting landscapes of ocean, earth and Australian nature.

Created by Goldfield & Banks founder and Creative Director Dimitri Weber in collaboration with French perfumer Suzy Le Helley, the fragrance combines rare New Zealand ambergris with the historic De Laire Amber 83 accord, a rich composition built around labdanum and vanillin. Australian agarwood adds another connection to the natural landscape, bringing depth to the fragrance’s mineral and resinous character.

Tales of Amber balances ancient perfumery materials with a contemporary approach, contrasting the oceanic, animalic qualities of ambergris with the balsamic sweetness of amber, soft florals, spice and woods.

What Does Goldfield & Banks Tales of Amber Smell Like?

Tales of Amber opens with a moss accord and orange blossom, creating an intriguing contrast between earthy greenery and luminous floral freshness.

Orris develops through the heart, bringing a soft, powdery texture alongside the warmth of Madagascar cinnamon oil. Australian agarwood and oud nuances deepen the composition with a resinous woody character.

The dry down centres on New Zealand ambergris and labdanum absolute, enriched by the creamy sweetness of the Amber 83 accord. The result is a deep, textured amber fragrance where mineral and oceanic ambergris meets warm resins, woods, spice and subtle gourmand sweetness.
