Was it a decadent den of iniquity or one of the majestic wonders of the ancient world? Penhaligon's deliberately leaves the question unanswered, translating that sense of opulence and intrigue into a composition of precious spices, woods and vanilla.

Designed to be worn by all, Babylon pairs a decadent saffron accord with aromatic spices, distinguished cedarwood and creamy sandalwood. Rich vanilla adds a sensual sweetness, creating a fragrance that feels luxurious, mysterious and beautifully composed.

What Does Babylon Smell Like?

Babylon opens with a warm saffron accord surrounded by nutmeg and coriander. There is an immediate sweetness beneath the spices, giving the opening a rich, almost resinous warmth rather than a sharp or dry character.

At the heart, cypriol introduces an earthy, smoky and slightly leathery woodiness, deepening the composition and providing contrast to the sweeter opening.

As it settles, sandalwood and Atlas cedarwood create a smooth, substantial woody base, while vanilla absolute adds creamy sweetness and warmth. The result is a spicy, resinous vanilla fragrance with saffron, smoky woods and a rich, enveloping dry down.
