Muse Extrait de Parfum 62 Ink by Yves Saint Laurent is an ambery woody fragrance from Le Vestiaire des Parfums, created by perfumer Marie Salamagne and inspired by the women who shaped Yves Saint Laurent's creative vision.

Its story returns to 29 January 1962, when the 25-year-old Saint Laurent presented his first haute couture collection at 30 bis rue Spontini. Among the muses embodying his emerging aesthetic was Victoire Doutreleau, whose elegance, androgyny and effortless movement became a defining source of inspiration. Muse 62 Ink captures that relationship between designer and muse through the ink sketches with which Saint Laurent recorded his ideas.

The Extrait reinterprets the original Muse through an emboisement process. French oakwood shavings, selected for their naturally vanilla-like aromatic profile and traditionally associated with ageing wines and spirits, are macerated for one week in the signature ink accord. The process gives the composition greater woody, gourmand and amber depth while preserving the distinctive character of ink at its centre.

What Does Muse Extrait de Parfum 62 Ink Smell Like?

Muse Extrait de Parfum 62 Ink opens with spicy, resinous olibanum softened by aromatic Ourika lavender and Provençal clary sage.

The heart becomes smoother and more tactile as iris concrete brings a refined powderiness, joined by the softly musky warmth of ambrette absolute.

In the dry down, the signature ink accord becomes deeper and more luscious through its maceration with French oakwood, developing smoky, woody and subtly liqueur-like facets. A trio of Bourbon vanilla extracts adds rich vanillic warmth, while oud contributes a darker ambery smokiness. The result is woody, smoky and softly gourmand, with ink, oak, vanilla and oud creating a warm, skin-like depth.
